Perspective of headworks group on Cai river

General introduction of Tan My Irrigation System, Ninh Thuan province

The headworks consist of 2 groups: Cai river reservoir and Tan My weir in downstream (13 km away from Cai river reservoir).

On 31/12/2007, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued the Decision No.4223/QĐ-BNN-XD on approving investment project of Tan My Irrigation System in Ninh Thuan province prepared by HEC. The project is a multipurpose one of class A, its main task is to supply direct irrigation water to 4,380 ha of cultivated land and supply water to Nha Trinh - Lam Cam irrigation system to irrigate 12,800 ha, aquaculture of 1,632 ha, domestic, industrial and services uses and power generation.

The headworks consist of 02 groups: (1) Cai river reservoir headworks constructed on Cai river in Bac Ai district and (2) Tan My weir located in downstream of Cai river in Ninh Son district, 13 km away from Cai river reservoir headwork. Beneficiary area is in Bac Ai, Ninh Son, Ninh Hai districts and Phan Rang - Thap Cham city.

Total investment: VND 2,700 billion with price in 4th quarter of 2007, of which, VND 2,600 billion for hydraulic works invested by the Government Bond. Hydropower works are invested by non-stage budget sources.

The project is managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Hydraulic Construction and Investment Management Unit No. 7 is decentralised to manage the headworks component, local authorities are decentralised to manage other components.
