Phu Sa Pumping Station

Project location:
Water source: Red river portion in Ha Tay area

Project tasks:
- Irrigating 10,000 ha (actually, by the year 1947, irrigated area is only 7000 ha)
- Supplying water for domestic uses
- In 1955, new pumps were installed, canal system was extended so that the irrigated area was increased to 16000 ha.
Construction time:
1924: completed preliminary design
1927: contract for civil works (steam engine pumps)
1934: replacing the steam engine pumps with electric pumps.
1991: constructing new Phu Sa culvert with dimension n(bxh) = 2(2.3 x2.5)m, 39m long, 2-layer gate, Q=10,260 m3/s.
The pumping station is probably the oldest onein Vietnam.
