Together with hydraulic structure design, mechanical design for hydraulic structures has been undertaken since end of 1950s. By the year 1960, mechanical design professional division had been founded and responsible for all mechanical design works.
Professional capability:
• Mechanical design for hydraulic, hydropower projects, domestic and industrial water supply projects (new project, repair project, failure overcoming project)
o Preparation of mechanical design drawing.
o Calculation for checking stability of steel structure of mechanical equipment.
o Preparation of installation, manufacturing measures drawings and explanation of installation, manufacturing measures of mechanical equipment.

Software and applicable standards in design:
To ensure quality, progress of projects and development orientation of HEC, Mechanical Consultants Center has made great changes in mechanical design technology for hydraulic and hydropower projects. These changes are application of informatic technology, research for application of software and standards in design.
• At present, engineers of the Center are familiar with programs for design including:
o Office, mathcad software for preparation of report, basic calculations and report presentation.
o Autocad software for 2D and 3D drawings.
o Plate ‘n’ sheet professional software for development of complicated structure.
o Sap2000, Ansys software, etc for checking complicated structure.
